Bio As a DJ on the ascendant, a crucial voice in Berlin nightlife, and an advocate for queer and marginalized actors in the scene, Alva’s attention is always focused outwards. Her observant nature is unfailingly evident, whether in the protective environment of her Calyx parties or when DJing around the world, cocooning rapt dancers within her signature fast-paced style, laced with driving hypnotism, exacting precision, thoughtful builds and intuitive responses. While blurring the boundaries between CDJs and vinyl, Alva’s skill and dedication first caught the attention of crews and promoters in Berlin and beyond. In 2018 she was invited to join the infamous ISMUS collective, known for hosting some of the most intense and extended parties in the German capital; in the years since, she has played at demonstrations and DIY affairs alongside renowned queer club nights like Mala Junta in Berlin, Endurance in Copenhagen and FOLD in London, (UK), as well as every major nightspot in her hometown, including Säule at Berghain. As she is poised to launch into her most in-demand moment yet, openness, diversity, and transformation, both within the booth and without the DJ booth, will continue to be the markers of Alva’s success.

Drawing inspiration from various genres spread across Techno, acid, rave and euro tech/trance. The symbiosis is the constant flow of energy, which aligns with his personality and attitude behind the decks. Guaranteed to get the club bouncing! Since he started mixing at 15, Hyper Octane's musical journey had him face multiple (sub)genres within electronic music. From Electro, drum & bass, hard- and breakcore to house and back to high-paced industrial Techno and rave. During this musical crusade, he gained experience at various parties and raves at large and small events. Being mentored by some more experienced DJs, he was able to take it to the next level. This caused Hyper Octane to familiarise himself with the more underground part of the scene, which can be heard in his style nowadays. His first large gig at Milkshake in the Westergasfabriek lit a fire that has kept burning. Since then, he has been heard around the Netherlands and Berlin at events and venues such as Intercell, Verknipt, Reaktor's Unpolished, Radion, Ruigoord, Paradiso, ÆDEN, Wibar, Dockyard and various illegal raves.

It’s a mix of primarily old-school techno and some newer releases. As we know her sound to be fast, trippy and sexy, she definitely did not fail to deliver that sound in this set too. Living by the mantra ‘keep it sexy’. Her intention when she takes to the decks is to initiate the liberation that comes from the most powerful dance floor experiences when clothes come off and the energy reaches a fever pitch. Her sound is a constant rush of high-intensity techno spanning the mid-90s to the mid-00s, mixed with the tactile, precarious thrill of vinyl. Continually digging for the tracks which fit her particular creative vision, she holds true to techno’s inherent futurism by creating something new and ever-evolving from the music she plays–pulling together the pieces of the puzzle from decades of techno culture carved into a near-infinite pool of uptempo, forward-facing machine music.
