Sine June last year, we have enforced a no-camera policy at all our events. It was a shift, one that asked for trust, presence, and a return to the essence of the dancefloor. We introduced this policy because we saw how phone usage was reshaping a lot of events, and our events were not an exeption.
At our largest event yet in Klokgebouw, we asked our visitors about their experience. The response was clear, 83,6% had a positive sentiment about the policy.
''It gives me a better experience. Everyone is more present, enjoying the music right here and now instead of trying to capture the best moment. It also makes me feel safer and more comfortable, knowing I don't have to be cautious about being on camera.'' - Anonymous visitor
Many visitors love the policy because it helps them stay present and enjoy the music without distractions. People feel that the energy and vibe are better as fewer people are standing still to record videos.
Consider more pre-event communication (emails, social media, event descriptions) to ensure everyone know about the policy before arriving.
Simple visible reminders at key locations (entrances, near the stage, bathrooms) could reinforce the rule without feeling too strict.
More strict enforcement or peer encouragement could help maintain the policy. For example empowering visitors to remind each other in a positive way.
If you have any feedback regarding this policy, please let us know. We appreciate any constructive feedback via DM as we strive to create the best experience possible.
